Microsoft employee revealed in his blog last years destroyed Kelihos spam-botnetwork developer. After having helped investigating police with the security company Kaspersky, Microsoft was able to dig out this defendant in the trial.
Others accused in the trial revealed this botnet developer Russian Andrei N. Sabelnikovin as part of an agreement.
Microsoft presented evidence to suggest that Sabelnikov worked in security company as an antivirus programmer and developer of firewalls. Employer's name was not revealed in court.
The project leader Sabelnikov was able to develop Khelios a working and credible anti-virus program masquerading as malware. He used the botnet and the program as well assending spam and making a number of scams, Microsoft says.
